Icard Maritime, established in 1984 in Marseille, France, began as a food and supplies transportation service and now has an impressive fleet of 5 vessels, ranging from the traditional wooden trawler to a hybrid-powered vessel.
Hélios, Icard Maritime’s hybrid-powered passenger boat, first had Propspeed applied in 2021. The vessel has a hybrid-diesel and electric propulsion to allow it to operate in the natural park of Calanques in Marseille, a protected site. As a bonus, Propspeed contains no biocides, helping to protect this magnificent and fragile place.
Following the application of Propspeed, Hélios experienced an increase in speed and reduced fuel consumption. “Before Propspeed, we consumed 180.74 liters per hour and this year we consumed an average of 153.56 liters per hour, which represents a little over 15% savings,” says Renaud de Bernard, CEO, Icard Maritime. “Usually we have a loss of speed at the end of the season – this season, we had no loss. We are very satisfied and will renew the application."
