Each year, Boating Industry selects the 50 best and new innovative products that have recently hit the market in the recreational marine industry. This year, Boating Industry Top Products saw over 175 submissions
from manufacturers across every part of the marine industry. The 50 Top Products are chosen for their impact on the industry, innovations and how they advance the product category – or creates a new segment altogether.
Propspeed announced the launch of Foulfree in October 2019, after a year of boat testing and compatibility testing with AIRMAR. Foulfree is a revolutionary foul-release coating that protects transducers from marine growth to ensure accurate signal transmission,
certified by AIRMAR.
Fouling on the face of transducers can reduce their sensitivity, decreasing bottom echo returns and fish targets. This reduces the amount of detail you will see. Think of a stereo with something in front of it, absorbing the sound. You’d still hear
the music, but you’d lose some of the definition and detail. A transducer works in a similar way.
Foulfree is a clear silicone coating that does not react with the urethane material that transducers are made of. The silicone coating creates an ultra-slick surface that marine growth cannot stick to. This also means that unlike conventional anti-foul,
Foulfree does not poison marine growth or leech toxins into the marine environment.
