About

METSTRADE 2022 was the reunion event of the year for the marine industry, particularly after the cancellation of IBEX due to Hurricane Ian. The world’s largest and most visited trade exhibition kicked off in Amsterdam for three busy days from November 15th – 17th. The show featured 1,400 exhibitors from 49 countries and registered 26,480 visitors, just 300 visitors off the all-time record.

“This year’s METS Trade Show was absolutely the reunion event of the year. It was 300 visitors off the all-time record and throughout the entire show there was constant traffic. The majority of the time the stand was packed with visitors and remained this way all the way through until the last day,” says Nona Pedersen, General Manager, Propspeed. “The Stripspeed launch received a strong positive response from the industry, with excitement around the easy removal of Propspeed on intricate areas such as swim platforms. Overall, it was a fantastic show!”

We kicked off METSTRADE 2022 with the launch of Stripspeed™, available in early 2023. Developed to help Propspeed applicators to prepare metal surfaces for reapplication, Stripspeed removes foul-release coatings in 30* minutes or less. Stripspeed received a strong positive response from the METSTRADE attendees, and we look forward to seeing it in the market in early 2023. Avoid the grind with Stripspeed here.

*Timing is subject to atmospheric conditions. Ideal temperature is 15-27°C (60-80°F)

Immediately after the show, we had a packed evening of events, heading first to the Propspeed and HamiltonJet sponsored New Zealand Trade & Enterprise networking event, where we were able to meet with key people from the New Zealand marine sector and international guests, as well as H.E. Susannah Gordon, New Zealand Ambassador to the Netherlands.

The team then headed to the eighth annual Boat Builder Awards, hosted by IBI and METSTRADE at the National Maritime Museum. Propspeed sponsored the Collaborative Solution between a Superyacht Builder & its Supply Chain Partner award which was awarded to Bennetti Yachts and  Siemens Energy. Congratulations to those who received awards throughout the evening.

Day 2 of METSTRADE 2022 saw a panel of women come together for the very first Women in Marine Industry event. Propspeed’s very own General Manager, Nona Pedersen, was among the 5 women chosen for the panel. The discussion covered the successes and hurdles female leaders face in the marine industry. The panel was well received and over 120 attendees gathered to watch. The panel recording is available to view here.

Our Corrosion Protection Tank, in partnership with Marine Protection Systems, was a valuable part of our exhibit yet again. Jess Gatt, General Manager of Marine Protection Systems, and Brian Gatt, Technical Director of Marine Protection Systems, joined us at METSTRADE to help educate our customers about corrosion and how to minimize damage to the environment. The value added to our customers' experience through these demonstrations has been incomparable.

Next year, METSTRADE will be a little bit different, changing from the usual Tuesday to Thursday event to Wednesday - Friday. We hope to see you there next year!
