Returning for its second year to Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) is the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show, one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest, from Thursday 2 August to Monday 6 August. Two levels will feature 32,000 square meters of exhibit space, with marina displays just minutes away at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. An estimated 1.3 million people attended last year’s show.

This year, Oceanmax is focused on growing the Australian market, our second-biggest, through strategic partnerships with QEP Australia and new distributor All Marine Spares (AMS). Our first time exhibiting at SIBS, we plan on driving consumer awareness and education around our flagship product, Propspeed foul-release coating, in a big way. We’ll also be giving away a bottle of rum a day

International sales manager Chris Gibbs, hot off attending the highly successful Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, will be on hand to answer all those tricky questions about marine propeller paint systems, joined by Oceanmax sales coordinator Eve Verberne and support staff from QEP and AMS. Stop by Booth 626 on Level 4 to enter the rum draw and learn more about the huge benefits that Propspeed can provide Australian recreational boat owners and commercial operators: more speed, less fuel and lowered maintenance costs.

“The 2017 show was a huge success for Oceanmax,” says Chris, who supported at QEP’s Propspeed stand. “In 2018, we’ve decided to up the ante by hosting our own stand that will offer all the more to boat owners. We see SIBS as a great opportunity to work with and educate yards and boat owners from Australia and further afield, as well as network with some of the world’s leading brands in the marine sector.”2018 Sydney International Boat Show event details

Among the show’s highlights are the Australia International Dive Expo, appearances by record-breaking racer Ken Warby and his boat Spirit of Australia II, and the return of the oversized demonstration pools, which allow attendees an up-close look at some of boating’s latest—and wackiest—innovations. The open-air display on level 2 includes pint-sized bumper boats and activities for the kids plus an outdoor champagne and oyster bar for the grownups. Demonstrations will take place throughout the day while the bar is open daily from 11am until close. Another feature is the Boating Safety Zone, an interactive educational area promoting safe boating experiences, in partnership with Transport for NSW.

While you’re getting pumped for SIBS 2018, check out this retrospective video of the lead-up to last year’s show. We hope to see you all there!
