About

Bostjan Lojo, proprietor of LNC Marine in Slovenia, recently had the honor of working alongside his son on a very special job: applying Propspeed to the 120cm propellers of Princess Yachts’ new 35M. Unveiled on 20 January at 2018 Boot Düsseldorf, the world’s largest indoor boat show, the luxury vessel, named El Guajiro, was also the event’s largest and one of 10 Princess boats on display.

El Guajiro loosely translates as “the peasant,” though the superyacht’s many amenities are anything but humble. Billed by Princess as “a wonder of luxurious space,” the semi-custom 35M has a unique aft- and forward-facing seating area, hydraulic swimming platform and large panoramic windows for superlative cruising comfort.

Setting sail for Mallorca shortly after the show, El Guajiro had to vacate the exhibit hall by 2 February, giving Bostjan and his son, Ziga, just days to complete the project and ensure the coatings were dry enough for launch. They got the call on Saturday the 27th and drove nearly 800 miles (1,250km) from Portoroz, Slovenia, to Düsseldorf, Germany, a journey that took 11 hours, the following Tuesday. After spending all day Wednesday applying Propspeed, they drove home the next day, delayed an hour by snowy weather. That’s dedication!

But it’s all part of the end-to-end service Bostjan and LNC Marine are known for, and he and Ziga are proud of the results and buoyed by the prospect of future projects. “This is a great reference and will have a big impact for Propspeed in the Princess shipyard,” Bostjan says. Propspeed was applied to the boat's propellers, struts, shafts, rudders and trim tabs using a total of five one-liter kits.

El Guajiro’s captain had used Propspeed before and was keen to use it again to protect his latest acquisition. As luck would have it, Bostjan himself sold Princess yachts from 1996 to 2011 and still knew many of the distributors.

“This particular yacht was sold by my good friend Mr. Sven Delic, sales director of Princess Adriatic.” Princess Adriatic is a distributor for Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic and will be attending LNC’s March training session for authorized Propspeed applicators.

Two more stunning superyachts at the Düsseldorf show also got the Propspeed treatment: the Montecarlo Yachts 96, on its hydraulic bathing platform, and the  Sanlorenzo SX88, on its Volvo IPS. The SX88 debuted at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival while the Montecarlo 96 won the Most Achieved Award at the same event.
